Swim Lesson Fund for Minneapolis Families

After numerous drownings at Minneapolis Lakes due to inexperienced or non-swimmers, the People for Parks board of directors seeded a $7,500 swim lesson scholarship fund. The scholarships ensure that children from lower-income homes are afforded the opportunity to learn to swim and ultimately take advantage of the fabulous system of lakes and pools.
The scholarship fund provides $50 of the $55 class fee for the 2 week, eight lesson course at Webber Natural Swimming Pool, Jim Lupient Water Park, North Commons Water Park, Nokomis Main Beach and Wirth Lake Beach. The funds will be available on a first come first served basis.
Interested families can find out more by emailing aquatics@minneapolisparks.org.
