MPRB are anticipating that the construction documents for the Sixth District Dog Park will be complete by June 1. They will then go out to bid to determine the contractor and secure any necessary permits. They aim to begin construction in July with an early fall completion. The exact timing for opening the park will depend on how quickly the contractor can advance the project, and this is typically dependent on weather conditions. Be patient pups, not long now!
The Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board Planning Committee will hold a public hearing tonight on the proposed plan to upgrade the pathways and lighting at Powderhorn Park. Tonight's public hearing will be at 6:30 p.m. in the board room of the MPRB administrative offices, 2117 W River Rd.
The plan reflects ideas and suggestions gathered from the community at two public meetings, an open house, and through an online survey. If passed by the Planning Committee, the plan will go before the full board June 6. Approval of the plan will allow construction to begin this fall with completion in early 2013. Tune in to watch tonight's board meeting live, or watch later.
